Support request:

Quote:
I'm trying to run debbuger over ethernet in CDP version 2.3.0.0.

There are massages on the screen connected to the target:

RTTarget-32 Debug Monitor 5.06
Copyright ....
Monitor Header at: ....
Ethernet: RealTek R8139, MAC:..., IP: 10.150.1.5

so it looks OK, there are correct target's MAC address and IP.

In CDPController.cfg the target's port is specified as
fallows: COMPort Ethernet 10.150.1.5.

But I can't connect to the target - still is message "unable
to open COM port" and "unable to communicate with target
"from RTTarget-32 Debugger.
What's the reason for it?

Hi,

Looks like you have forgot to configure RTTarget.ini for Ethernet debugging, since it tries to use the COM port.
RTTarget.ini is either located in c:\Program Files\OnTim R..\bin\ or in you project's CDP_Application folder (it will use that one first it it finds one there). It should have a
Code:
Port = IP 10.150.1.5

Check the RTOS documentation for more info on how to configure the file.

Exclamation Also, make sure that the ip-address you specify here is the same as specified in Application.xml, or bad things will happen when the application starts up.

Successfully loading file to target, but when start debugging, main() is never reached.

Possible solution:
In CDPMain.cpp, the flag RF_NO_EXIT_TASK must be set in RTK32Config RTKConfig.

Gets CRC errors on target during debugging.

Possible solution:
Your PC is set up with a too small MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) size.
Open your registry (start command prompt and 'regedit'). Click on top item, push 'Ctrl-F', and search for MTU, or go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\[Adapter ID]]

If you have a MTU with size 1300 e.g., it is too small. It must be 1500 (of Data Type REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)).

I am trying to debug RTOS over ethernet using Version 2.3.1.0_beta_18 for DP Red 0.9.zb, but I keep getting the following error when the debugger is trying to connect to the target:
"Host <-> Target COM timeout".

Changes done:
Rttargetini: Port=IP 10.139.111.2
CDPController.cfg: COMPort Ethernet 10.139.111.2

Any suggestions on where to start looking for my problem?

Hi,

Did you upload monitor.rtb after changing CDPController.cfg?

Does the target print out that it's using the corretct ip-address when you're booting monitor.rtb?

If your controller has more than one network interface, check RTOS-32 documentation for how to make the target monitor use the desired interface.

Exclamation Seems like the RTOS-32 target monitor requires that the Ethernet connection is available when it starts up.

While working connected to a switch which uses longer time to boot than the controller running the debug monitor, the connection would never come up when power was switched off and on on both the controller and the switch simultanously. The target monitor would not even answer to ping requests afterwards, and far from connect to the debugger.

Had to reboot only the controller after the switch was 'ready' to be able to get the debug monitor to initialize it's network connection properly.
