This is just a matter of configuration. On some distributions, the serial port is set up to convert carriage return into linefeeds. This can be disabled by typing, "stty -F /dev/ttyS0 -icrnl", assuming that ttyS0 is the port you wish to change.

The CDP SerialIOServer was updated to disable this by default in CDPLinux 2.2.1.5 Beta 4.
